Spring School Work
Class F2DS

What have we been doing?

We have been on a trip to Padbury school and on a trip to Woburn Safari park. At the end of term the children are bringing in their teddies from home and we shall be having a Teddy Bear's Picnic inviting the parents to join us in the fun .

What have we been studying?

Our themes this term have been Houses & Homes and Bears. We have been looking at different types of houses and homes and we also visited a different school in connection with our topic of "Town Mouse, Country Mouse" (as well as the children dressing up as mice for the day).

New Boards:

We have our "Going on a Bear Hunt" board on display at the moment with some fantastic bear pictures painted by the children.

Class 2LC

What have we been doing?

We have been visiting Page Hill Wood to assist police with their enquiry into a recent crime involving missing porridge and a broken chair! The children have been investigating the crime scene, written a crime scene report, suspect profile and been involved in a reinactment.

What have we been studying?

For the first half of this term the children have been aboard a pirate ship "The Dark Peril" and we have been studying pirate stories and writing our own.

The second half we have been studying a variety of fairy tales under the guise of "Once upon a Crime". We are also looking at how & where plants grow and will be growing our own 'magic' beans.

New Boards:
New displays this term have shown Story Character mind maps - with Lively Language investigation. Also we have Pirate Galleons on display with the children's own story creations, and Skull parchments retelling a pirate story we have studied.

Class 5RM

What have we been doing?
We have been spending time in Bourton Park conducting river studies.

New Boards:
We have the children's research projects on display at the moment.

What have we been studying?

We have been looking at the River Great Ouse 'from source to sea'. We made a video tour of the source in the style of Mission Impossible!

The children have been undertaking a research project on aspects of flooding - including the causes, impact, prevention and control. We will be carrying out some fieldwork techniques measuring speed, discharge and cross sections of the river.

Pupil's Comments

I have really enjoyed rivers as our theme this term. I liked learning about erosion, depostion and transportation. I especially enjoyed learning about the stages of the river and how it works - Megan 5RM

Class 6CK

What have we been doing?

This term has been rather busy with Core SAT's revision.

What have we been studying?

We have been studying the theme of 'Rainforests' this term. The children have been creating pastel sketches and using their watercolour techniques to create paintings.

New Boards:

We have some wonderful displays of the children's work on our Rainforest theme.

Pupil's Comments:

This term our main focus has been SAT's revision. In creative sessions we have been doing rainforest artwork such as pastel animals, watercolour techniques, individual sewing and class stitching. This is all going towards individual projects on the rainforest. Games has been focused on hockey skills, football and netball. In P.E. we have been looking at the Haka and in Science we have been rotating around the subjects: Earth, Sun & Moon; Microbes; Electricity; Reversible & Irreversible changes. Honor & Maddie 5CK
